Of the many exciting announcements from Sony's State of Play on Tuesday, one of the most intriguing has to be Sucker Punch's follow-up to the beloved Sucker Punch original, . While few details have been released, the trailer showcases some promising new additions to the original gameplay and gives players a glimpse at the new «Ghost» at the center of story, Atsu.
The trailer, which was revealed during the State of Play in September, also previews the beautiful new setting for, the mountainous area around Mount Yōtei in the heart of Ezo, Japan (modern-day Hokkaido). While is sure to deliver the same engaging storytelling experience and visually dynamic gameplay as its predecessor, it is set nearly 300 years after the events of and will not be a direct continuation of Jin Sakai's story.
Based on the State of Play announcement, it's clear that will be released in 2025, but the exact time of year it will be released is not evident. For a point of reference, came out during the summer of the year it was released (2020), though there is no indication from Sucker Punch that would have a similar release window.
As expected, will be released initially as a PS5 exclusive -in fact, it is Sucker Punch's first game that has been built for the PS5 from the ground up. This means that there will be a major upgrade in the visual realism and graphics quality of the colorful environments that the franchise is lauded for. Don't plan on playing in 2025 on any other system than the PS5, however, as the PC and Xbox versions will likely take some time.
