Game Pass is Microsoft's proprietary subscription service for the distribution of games. Available in several tiers, it provides access to hundreds of games on both Xbox consoles and PC, available either for direct download or cloud streaming for a monthly fee. Once an archive of classic Xbox games, Game Pass has since evolved to include numerous day-one releases, and gets a slew of new games every month.
But in order to make room for all those new games, some older titles must leave the service. Some games eventually return, although it is rare. However, subscribers can purchase departing games at a significant discount, just in case they can't finish a particular title in time.
