While the Spider-Man 4 news has been inconclusive concerning what direction the film will take due to behind-the-scenes disagreements, a new rumor suggests that fans will likely get the long-awaited debut of Miles Morales.
While Tom Holland's Spider-ManHome trilogy was a massive success, Holland's return for Spider-Man 4 was conditional as the star stated he was protective of the character. As a result, Holland would agree with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige in wanting a more grounded direction for the character going forward, a resolution that stood at odds with what Sony executives, who collaborate with Marvel Studios on Holland's Spider-Man films, wanted for the next movie.
Due to this internal split, rumors have been making the rounds since Feige confirmed Spider-Man 4 was in the works. A recent one from a trusty source suggests that fans are getting one highly-requested MCU debut in the upcoming film and seems to imply that both camps are on board. According to reliable source Daniel Richtman, Miles Morales will finally make his live-action and MCU debuts in the upcoming Spider-Man 4 alongside Holland's Peter Parker. Additionally, this seems to be the first step in Miles getting his solo project set within the MCU and is a joint decision that involved both Feige and Amy Pascal.
Richtman also previously revealed Sony wanted Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back forSpider-Man 4, which seemed to be the primary basis of contention between the Marvel Studios and Sony execs. While Marvel Studios wanted to tell a more grounded story on par with projects like Echo andDaredevil: Born Again, Sony was more interested in producing another multiverse movie in the vein of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which featured all three live-action Spider-Men in a spectacular close to the first Home trilogy. Adding Miles Morales to the equation could be a compromise, drawing fans to the new film with his long-awaited debut while not committing to multiversal shenanigans.
