Developers working on Overwatch 2 are not receiving any of their profit-sharing bonuses in March.
Bloomberg reports that this is not a common occurrence at Blizzard. The March bonus payment is one of two that workers at the company receive in a given year; the other is in August. It's speculated that staff working on Overwatch 2 not receiving this reward is an indication that the game is not performing as well as Blizzard would like.
In fact, back in August of last year, staff on the development team were told the game performed so badly that they really should not have received any bonus payment for the first half of the year.
Overwatch 2 launched back in 2022 to rather lacklustre reviews, while the game's community were rather disappointed by the lack of new content in the team shooter.
It's also possible that the bonus structure has been impacted by Blizzard becoming part of Microsoft, but that's just speculation.
