Simulation games can be some of the most rewarding games to excel at, but they’ve never quite found a natural home on consoles like they have on PCs over the years. That isn’t to say that attempts haven’t been made over the decades, but results have been mixed with ports that weren’t fully-optimized for console gaming hardware and in some cases, that’s led to games being worse to play on modern hardware than even older hardware. Games like Planet Coaster ring that bell because with a newer and theoretical console-optimized experience, it still never felt natural on a controller. Meanwhile, the original Theme Park on the Sega Genesis felt pretty natural with its controls reworked and a very similar premise.
We have seen several RollerCoaster Tycoon games on the market over the years, but few on console, with the original Xbox getting a highly-optimized version of RollerCoaster Tycoon with reworked controls and all of the original game’s content packs as well. The isometric viewpoint was retained and the game’s performance was bumped up to 60 fps. It was perfectly-tuned for a controller and felt very natural with a controller and the new RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures Deluxe aims to do something similar 20 years later. – only across far more kinds of hardware. While that redone RCT only hit one console, it also hit very well. Now, RCT is back with a revamp to RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures with a slew of new content.
In the case of Deluxe, it lives up to the moniker with 80 new rides added to the lineup – including some seasonal rides.
