Newly Obtained Open World Activity Gear Now Upgradeable to 450 Item Level
Good news outdoor enthusiasts, gear obtained from open world activities after the launch of Dragonflight Patch 10.2 have been updated to higher item levels and upgrade tracks! Weekly rewards are now part of the Adventurer upgrade track, allowing them to be upgraded all the way to 450 item level, while repeatable activities are capped at 437 on the on the Explorer track.
Similar items obtained before Patch 10.2 maxed at 424 item level.
As shared on Reddit by u/agrok and MrGM on Twitter, this creates more avenues of gear for players beyond what is available within the Emerald Dream, while also helping increase the pool of players in those older world events, but there are a few caveats:
- Gear purchased with the weekly Dilated Time Capsule or awarded by weekly event completion are on the Adventurer track, allowing them to be upgraded to 450.
- Items purchased with farmable Paracausal Flakes or awarded by repeat activity completions are restricted to the the Explorer track, with a max of 437 item level.
- These changes only apply to gear obtained after the patch, as Season 2 items still max at 424 item level, and you cannot use currencies obtained during Season 2 to make these purchases.
Some open world items, like Drogbar Rocks, were already known for being very powerful for their item level, though most of the Time Rift trinkets received little community attention in previous patches due to their relatively low item level. As these upgrade levels compete with the highest item level drops from Aberrus, this could be the perfect time to find a surprisingly strong piece of gear as we get ready to move into Season 3!
