For a while now, popular online game platform Roblox has been pretty much exclusive to Xbox consoles, even though the company behind the title doesn't have any publicly known deals with Microsoft. It was assumed that Roblox was only on Xbox because the majority of people play the game on PC and it was just a natural place to have a console presence.
Well, it seems like the game's decade long run as an Xbox console exclusive is coming to an end, as it's been announced that Roblox is coming to PlayStation consoles and Meta Quest. It wasn't announced in the post released by Roblox via its official Twitter account, but the game will be hitting both PS4 and PS5 at some point next month, with an exact date to be announced at a later date.

As for why it's taken this long for Roblox to finally make the jump to PlayStation, there's likely a whole bunch of reasons. The biggest is probably down to moderation, a PlayStation chief Jim Ryan has previously expressed his worries about how the title could potentially impact children on the platform. Obviously, Roblox allows players to create all sorts of games and modes, and that level of freedom combined with the game's popularity could end up subjecting kids to some slightly unsavory content if not moderated properly.
This is also probably why Roblox is still yet to come Nintendo Switch too, especially since Roblox's CTO Dan Sturman recently said the game would run on the system. Nintendo has always been a bit of a stickler for moderation, but it seems like PlayStation and Jim Ryan may have softened their stances over the past few years.
In any case, this is obviously good news for Roblox, now that's it's opened up to yet another massive market.
