The Batman star Robert Pattinson revealed that he would love his version of the iconic titular character to have his own trilogy of movies. Directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield), The Batman marks Pattinson's debut as the world-renowned DC Comics superhero following Ben Affleck's decision to drop out of the role. The story of the film focuses on Batman's second year of fighting crime, as he uncovers corruption connecting to his own family. Meanwhile, he is forced to hunt down the serial killer known as the Riddler, who is targeting elite Gotham City citizens.
Pattinson is joined by an ensemble cast that features Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, and Paul Dano, who plays the menacing Riddler. John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, and Barry Keoghan are also set to appear in supporting roles. After numerous delays in production due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Batman is finally set for a New York City premiere on March 1, followed by a wide theatrical release on March 4.
