DC’s latest film, The Batman, gets the comic book treatment in a set of new fan-made vintage comic covers. More and more, DC Comics and Warner Bros. have been embracing the comic book source material that their films are based on. A great example is the set of astonishing comic book covers they released for the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, earlier last year. Along with this, they have started to promote comic book stores at the end of their trailers. For example, “The Bat & The Cat” trailer forThe Batman ends with the words “Buy DC Comics & Graphic Novels in Comic Book Shops." This has been something that comic creators have long asked for, some promotion for the industry that birthed almost all the ideas these films are based on. It’s a good step forward that DC should keep up.
The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves and stars Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader. It’s the latest instalment and first solo Batman film in ten years, since The Dark Knight Rises was released in 2012. Pattinson has previously described the film as akin to “Batman Year Two”, in which Bruce Wayne continues to find his footing and true mission as Gotham City’s caped protector. As seen in the trailers, The Batman is more of a noir-inspired, detective story that follows Batman and Jim Gordon’s investigations into the Riddler.

The vintage comic art comes from Instagram user @dvglzv, who released four art pieces inspired by the upcoming Batman film. The individual characters and their actions in the covers are inspired by events that transpire in the trailers and promotional material that DC and Warner Bros. have released.
