The Batman co-writer/director Matt Reeves says he wants to adapt Hush soon for his franchise, though downplays his arrival in the first sequel. Reeves has relaunched the Dark Knight film franchise with Robert Pattinson leading the cast as Bruce Wayne in his second year of fighting crime in Gotham City as he uncovers a web of corruption with ties to his family's past. Wayne further finds his investigation complicated by the arrival of serial killer The Riddler, who is targeting Gotham's elite and taunting Batman with cryptic clues for his motivations.
Alongside Pattinson, the cast for The Batman includes Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot. Intended as the start for a new shared universe, the film laid the groundwork for a number of major developments to come for Gotham and its ensemble roster, including Cobblepot's transformation to the Penguin and his own spin-off series at HBO Max and multiple villain teases for the future. With The Batman already scoring rave reviews and strong box office numbers, those behind the film are already looking to the future.
