New The Batman Clip Shows The Dark Knight Punching Jim Gordon
A new clip for The Batman had its world premiere. It's a tense and enigmatic 50 seconds, where Batman straight up punches Jim Gordon in the face and runs away from the GCPD.
The Batman scene begins with Batman and Jim Gordon's private conversation, where the Caped Crusader accuses an officer of working with The Penguin. As soon as the discussion ends, Batman abruptly punches Gordon. Given their working relationship, this is clearly a misdirection for the other officers, as the GCPD has yet to trust this young vigilante.

What follows is a tense chase scene, where Batman runs through the GCPD office and uses a grappling hook to evade gunfire. Batman here is fast, rough, and animalistic, further showing the rage of a Year Two vigilante. Of course, the clip ends mid-sequence, leaving fans all the more anxious to see where this is headed. The clip was introduced on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, with Robert Pattinson discussing his role in The Batman.
This is just one of many clips that shows how different The Batman is from other film interpretations. Batman has almost always been shown as an ally to the police, with the first Tim Burton movie being a rare exception. But here, Gordon is the only cop to give him any trust, and even then he has to keep it silent. The rest of the GCPD sees him as a common criminal, and given Batman's brutal methods at this time, they're not wrong.
