Paul Dano reveals he wants to see the Court of Owls serve as the primary villains for The Batman 2 to see Matt Reeves' take. The Golden Globe nominee stars in Reeves' upcoming franchise starter as Edward Nashton, better known as The Riddler, a serial killer targeting members of Gotham's elite, including Bruce Wayne, and livestreams his murders. Nashton leaves cryptic puzzles at each of his crime scenes for Gotham Police and Batman, the latter of whom he has deduced his secret identity of Wayne.
Alongside Dano, the cast for The Batman is led by Robert Pattinson as Bruce/Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot. The solo film serves as a reboot of the franchise centered on the DC vigilante and hails from co-writer/director Reeves, who is primarily borrowing inspiration from The Long Halloween, Year One and Ego in an effort to better highlight the character's detective skills. Reeves is building The Batman with plans for a shared universe of projects, including a potential trilogy and two spin-off TV shows, and now those involved with the film are sharing their thoughts on what the future could hold.
