The Batman is a strange movie by modern superhero standards in that it exists all on its own. There is no wider universe with an origin story for Catwoman's hat, no spin-off about the Batmobile's mechanic. There aren't even any sequels, although given the early success of Robert Pattinson's first outing, that may not be the case for very long. Still, right now you may be at a bit of a loss for how to get more of your Batman fix. That's why we've prepared this handy guide for all the things you might want to do after seeing The Batman, because it's not enough to simply enjoy art, you have to turn it into a product where the only way to get your next fix is to consume, consume, consume.
The obvious stop would be other Batman movies, but with this being its own thing, you might be at a loss for which one to turn to. Although it's not technically a Batman movie as such, the Batman movie that The Batman has the most in common with is probably Joker. Both are dark, thematically and literally, and both function more as character studies than as action movies. They share similar themes of political corruption, hero worship, and the violence inherent in cult followings, plus there's a really weird bit where Paul Dano dances down some stairs to Gary Glitter.
If you want an actual Batman movie to watch next, The Dark Knight is easily the closest. It's the middle of a trilogy, so if it's your first watch, you might want to see them in order, but they work as stand-alone movies. After that, Batman Returns would be next in line, although again, that follows Batman but can be watched in isolation. Under no circumstances should you watch Catwoman, no matter how much you liked her here.
