Paul Dano reveals what it was like to play the father of the legendary director Steven Spielberg, in the upcoming semi-autobiographical film The Fabelmans. The Fabelmans will loosely explore Steven Spielberg’s personal history, focussing on the experiences and relationships of his childhood in Arizona. The Fabelmans release date is currently scheduled for November 2022, putting the film in prime awards season position.
Coming off the back of his performance as the Riddler in The Batman, Dano will be starring in the coming-of-age drama as a fictionalized version of Spielberg’s father, Arnold Spielberg. He is joined by Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen who will also be playing close family members, and David Lynch who will appear in an undisclosed role. Anyone familiar with Spielberg's body of work is aware fatherhood is a topic frequently explored in his movies, as his parents' divorce had a tremendous impact on his life. That makes the role all the more compelling for Dano.
