Director Judd Apatow says that he's developing a sequel to This Is 40, called This Is 50, with Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann. This Is 40 was released in 2012 and starred Rudd and Mann as Pete and Debbie, a couple entering their 40s and dealing with the highs and lows of contemporary work, family, and marriage. The characters first appeared in Apatow's 2007 comedy Knocked Up with Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl, making This Is 40 a comedy spinoff of sorts.
Apatow, who is married to Mann, wrote and directed This Is 40, which also co-stars their kids, Maude and Iris Apatow, both of whom also appeared in Knocked Up. The director has said he'd like to do a follow-up as far back as 2013, saying he'd be most interested in Maude and Iris' characters. Maude Apatow has since become an actress on the rise, appearing in HBO's hit drama series, Euphoria, as Lexi. Iris Apatow has appeared in her father's Netflix show, Love, and will also have a significant role in his next feature, The Bubble.

The director has previously expressed that he'd like to follow up on what's happened with the characters, particularly Pete and Debbie's kids, played by Maude and Iris.
