Steven Spielberg's adaptation of DC Comics' Blackhawk has been given an update by the film's screenwriter, frequent Spielberg collaborator David Koepp. Spielberg is one of the most accomplished filmmakers of all time and is currently nominated for Best Director at the 94th Academy Awards for West Side Story. His next film is The Fabelmans a semi-autobiographical story of the director's time growing up in Arizona, set for release on Thanksgiving weekend, 2022.

Collectively, they're known as The Blackhawk Squadron. Koepp, who had previously written the scripts for four Speilberg films — Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - was brought on board to pen the script for the adaptation, with the last update on the film coming in 2020.
