The Batman’s opening sequence, in which “vengeance” emerges from the darkness, is recreated in an awesome animated video. Writer/director Matt Reeves' reboot released in theaters on March 4. The film stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Lieutenant James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, and Paul Dano as Riddler.
Following Ben Affleck’s departure from what would have been his DCEU version of The Batman, it was announced that Pattinson would become the third Dark Knight in a decade. The casting of the former Twilight star drew mixed reactions from those unfamiliar with his spectacular indie work. The Batman’s first trailer was released during DC FanDome in 2020, and it silenced all of those naysayers. Set to Nirvana’s “Something in the Way,” the teaser unveiled a gritty, noir thriller featuring a brutal Batman. In particular, thescene where Pattinson’s Caped Crusader pummels a face-painted goon in front of his terrified associates took the internet by storm. Every subsequent trailer, clip, and first look exacerbated anticipation for one of the year’s biggest films.
