Director Denis Villeneuve says that there is a possibility he could direct a potential Dune 3. The first part of his Dune adaptation was released last year to critical acclaim and starred Timothee Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, and Zendaya. The film was also a commercial success, making $400 million worldwide and prompting the studio to greenlight the second chapter, Dune: Part 2.
Based on the classic sci-fi novel by author Frank Herbert, Dune has been a staple of the genre since its 1965 debut. It was first adapted in 1984 by director David Lynch, though that movie was a critical and commercial failure. However, it has gained notoriety in recent years as a cult classic. The Sci-Fi Channel also adapted many of the Dune books as a miniseries in the early 2000s, starting with an adaptation of the first book, which starred the late William Hurt.

However, the director is currently prepping to shoot Dune: Part 2 and says he can only focus on one project at a time, stating, «I'm entirely 100% focused on that second part. I'm not someone that can multitask. I love to completely focus on one project at a time.» Still, the prospect of adapting the next chapter in the saga is not off the table, with Villeneuve saying that he's making sure it's «doable.» Here's his full quote:
