Jason Momoa and his Dune co-stars celebrate the film's Oscar wins in images from the 94th Academy Awards. Director Denis Villeneuve's adaptation of Dune was released in theaters and on HBO Max in October 2021, earning widespread critical acclaim. The film was considered by many to be one of the best of the year, earning 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. Many were surprised when Villeneuve was snubbed from the Best Director category, believing he was worthy of the accolade.
Dune was one of the big winners at the ceremony, taking home six awards. Dune dominated the technical categories, receiving Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, Best Original Score, Best Film Editing, and Best Cinematography. Despite coming up short in the Best Picture race, Dune actually won the most Oscars of any movie during the night. For Momoa and his fellow-co-starts, that was cause for excitement, and they reunited at the ceremony to celebrate Dune's incredible achievements.
