Producer Darryl Frank reveals Steven Spielberg was very involved with the Halo TV show adaptation and oversaw «every aspect» of its development. Efforts to bring Bungie and 343 Industries' video game franchise to the screen began as far back as 2005 when Columbia Pictures began working on a film adaptation before languishing in development hell and going through a number of writers, directors and studios. Xbox Game Studios would eventually shift their focus to a Halo TV show, which similarly took nearly a decade to get off the ground.
Halo is set in the far-flung future of the 26th century as humanity has succeeded in intergalactic travel and began colonizing other worlds, including the titular ring-shaped megastructures, which brings them into conflict with an alien threat known as the Covenant, requiring a team of genetically engineered supersoldiers known as the Spartans to fight them. Pablo Schreiber is leading the cast of the show as Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 alongside Jen Taylor as Cortana, Natascha McElhone, Yerin Ha, Charlie Murphy, Shabana Azmi, Bokeem Woodbine, Kate Kennedy, Natasha Culzac and Bentley Calu. After over a decade of development hell, Halo is finally gearing up to arrive on Paramount+ this month.
