A new trailer for The Batman dropped during NBA All-Star Weekend and it shows the Dark Knight flying over Gotham City. In less than two weeks, Matt Reeves’ self-contained reboot will release in theaters. The film stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Lieutenant James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, and Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/Riddler.
Ben Affleck was originally going to head up his own DCEU version of The Batman. In 2019, it was announced that “Batfleck” was no more and that “Battinson” would take up the mantle in yet another reboot. The casting of Twilight’s Pattinson drew mixed reactions online until the first teaser for The Batman was released during DC FanDome in 2020. Set to Nirvana’s “Something in the Way,” the teaser unveiled Reeves’ noir thriller featuring a gritty Batman and the iconic line: I’m vengeance—which almost immediately silenced all of the naysayers. Every subsequent trailer, clip, and/or first look has only exacerbated anticipation for one of the year’s biggest films.
