Rob Zombie's The Munsters recently revealed through set photos that a Lost star has joined its cast. The heavy metal singer/songwriter turned filmmaker made his feature directorial debut in 2003 with House of 1000 Corpses, a project that later gained a cult following and established him as a distinctive voice in modern horror, leading him to make numerous other genre films such as The Devil's Rejects, The Lords of Salem, 3 from Hell, and the 2007 Halloween remake. The Munsters was confirmed in June of 2021. Written and directed by Zombie, the dark comedy horror will be based on the 1960s television sitcom of the same name. Airing on CBS for two seasons, the original series expanded its audience and popularity through syndication, resulting in a number of separate films and reboot attempts over the years.
Zombie's film revival of The Munsters will follow the same concept as its 1960s predecessor, overseeing a family of monsters, including vampires, a werewolf, and Frankenstein's creature, who move from Transylvania to the American suburb of Mockingbird Heights. The movie stars Zombie's wife and recurring cast member Sheri Moon Zombie, as well as Jeff Daniel Phillips, Daniel Roebuck, Richard Brake, and Sylvester McCoy. Zombie had previously opened up about being a fan of the series and wanting to make a film for years, and since the project began pre-production, the director has shared the new Munsters' Mockingbird Lane home, cast costumes, and many other behind-the-scenes looks at what fans can expect.
