A behind-the-scenes image from RENO 911! Defunded shows the return of Weird Al Yankovic as the Nuge. The musician is best known for his humorous songs and parodies of popular ditties from big-name acts such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Nirvana, and Eminem. Other than his music, Weird Al is also known for his voice acting roles across various projects, such as Pete the Cat, American Dad!, and Bojack Horseman. He has also made frequent guest appearances as himself in movies like Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult and Halloween II.
One of Weird Al's more memorable acting roles came on RENO 911! as the Nuge, a caricature of the gun-toting Republican rocker, Ted Nugent. Created by and starring Thomas Lennon, Robert Ben Garant, and Kerri Kenney-Silver, the series serves as a mockumentary-style parody of law enforcement documentary shows, namely Cops. RENO 911! initially ran on Comedy Central from 2003 to 2009 and after going off the air for over a decade, the series returned for RENO 911! season 7 on Quibi, the now-defunct steaming service centered on short, 10-minute episodes. After its shutdown, the long-running police comedy moved once again to The Roku Channel.
