Jaden Smith voices support for his father, Will Smith, after the actor slapped presenter Chris Rock during the 2022 Academy Awards. This year's Oscars ceremony was certainly a big night for the elder Smith, in more ways than one. As expected, Smith took home the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Richard Williams, father of tennis stars Venus and Serena, in the movie King Richard. This was a big win for the actor, as his third Academy Award nomination became his first ever victory.
However, as many likely know, being honored with an Oscar is not the only reason his 2022 Oscars appearance will be remembered. Earlier in the ceremony, comedian and presenter Rock made a joke referring the shaved head of Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, noting that she was ready to star in a sequel to 1997's G.I. Jane. However, Pinkett Smith has been open for several years about how she struggles with alopecia, a condition which causes hair loss. Approaching the stage after clearly not taking kindly the remark, Smith slapped Rock across the face, then return to his seat and chastised the comedian for mocking his wife.
