Rob Zombie has shown off candy inspired by his upcoming The Munstersreboot in an Instagram post. The original show, a sitcom that followed a family of Transylvanian monsters living in American suburbs, ran between 1964-1966 before being canceled. It's been theorized that the popularity of the 1960s Batman contributed to the decline of The Munsters' ratings, as it drew in viewers with an unusual twice-weekly schedule and cliffhangers that kept audiences hooked. Zombie was officially confirmed to be helming the reboot in 2021 after rumors surfaced attaching him to the project.
Zombie, who is best known for being both a musician and a horror writer/director, has become a divisive figure in the film community. He began his career in directing feature films with House of 1000 Corpsesand has continued to solidify his place in the genre with violent, raw, and nihilistic films ever since. Zombie is also no stranger to reboots, as he's previously reimagined John Carpenter's slasher classic Halloween with a unique take on Michael Myers' villain origin story. Zombie's Halloween and Halloween II received criticism from fans for favoring gore over suspense, among other things. However, he certainly brought his own distinctive voice to the story nonetheless.
