Leighton Meester, star of the original Gossip Girl, shows an interest in reprising her role of Blair Waldorf for the 2021 reboot of the same name. Originally running for six seasons, the original Gossip Girl was a big hit for The CW and launched the careers of many of its stars, including Meester, Blake Lively, Penn Badgley, and Chace Crawford. The latest version of the show premiered on HBO Max in 2021 with an all-new cast and Gossip Girl season 2 has already been renewed.
Gossip Girl follows an ensemble of New York private schoolers that have their activities documented by the titular Gossip Girl, an anonymous blogger who oversees their activities. Kristen Bell reprises her role as the voice of Gossip Girl, the only main cast member to return in a large capacity so far. The rebooted Gossip Girlhas received mixed to negative reviews from critics, with many finding the story lacking in substance though praising the cast.

In an interview with ET Canada, Meester says she hasn't been approached by the producers yet to reprise her role. She goes on to say that she enjoys how the new show is all about the new characters and their stories. However, she does mention that it's not impossible and she wouldn't mind reprising her role for the new series. Read her quote below:
