A massive set of first-look images has arrived from the upcoming Prime Video Western series Outer Range. The series was created by Brian Watkins working with Brad Pitt's production company Plan B as well as Amazon Studios. Outer Range, which seeks to blend genres in an irresistible mashup, will star Oscar-nominee Josh Brolin, who is best known for playing Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though he has held other prominent roles in recent projects including Dune, Sicario, and Deadpool 2. He will be joined by an ensemble that includes Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, Lewis Pullman, Tamara Podemski, Tom Pelphrey, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, Olive Abercrombie, Will Patton, and Noah Reid from the popular Canadian sitcom Schitt's Creek.
Brolin plays Royal Abbott, a Wyoming rancher who must battle for his land and defend his family, a plot that will be familiar for any fan of neo-Westerns, including the megahit Paramount series Yellowstone. However, as the show progresses and he investigates the disappearance of his daughter-in-law, Abbott will uncover a supernatural mystery that will challenge audience notions about stories involving the American West. While tensions increase in town because of greedy land-owners trying to take over the ranch, an unsettling black void appears in their pasture, promising an otherworldly adventure akin to projects like the 2018 sci-fi epic Annihilation.
