Resident Evil 4 Remake Sales Surpass 5 Million Units Worldwide In Less Than 4 Months

Global Resident Evil 4 Remake sales have surpassed 5 million copies, publisher Capcom has today announced.

Capcom announced the news just now via an official press release on its Japanese website. "the multiplatform title Resident Evil 4 has sold over 5 million units worldwide", the release reads.

Resident Evil 4 Remake was released in late March of this year. This implies that the popular remake has managed to sell over 5 million units in a little less than 4 months' time. Shortly after the game's global launch, Capcom announced that the remake sold over 3 million units in just two days. Some weeks later, the publisher revealed that global sales of the title surpassed 4 million units. Fast forward two months and the game has now sold an additional 1 million copies.

Comparing the sales of Capcom's most recent Resident Evil Remake to other entries in the series is an interesting one. To date, Resident Evil 6 remains the fastest-selling entry when looking at launch sales - the game managed to sell over 4.5 million units at launch, but it took the game a full year to reach 5 million sales.
