Sony has kicked off a big PlayStation summer sale, with £75 off the list price on a new PlayStation 5 console, a saving that UK retailers are pushing that little bit further to take £80 off the price.
From now until 10th August, you there’s a £75 discount on PS5 systems with disc drives from Sony, slashing the list price from £480 down to £405. After last year’s PS5 price hike is taken into account, that’s still a healthy £45 cheaper than the PS5’s original £450 launch price.
But wait, there’s more! That’s just Sony’s official price with other retailers also getting in on the action and sometimes going a little bit further. Argos, Currys, Very and Smyths have all dropped the PS5 down to £400, saving an extra fiver.
There’s also big savings on DualSense controllers and other accessories, as well as on physical first party games.
We’re also seeing DualSense controllers dropped to £40 at third parties, so make sure to shop around.

Not the greatest sale on games, but still better than the much higher launch prices. As with the other discounts, retailers will be able to drop further and harder than Sony’s RRP discounts.
All of this comes off the back of Sony announcing that they had passed 40 million PS5 consoles sold, with PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan looking back on the last few years and saying, “For more months than I care to remember, we kept thanking our community for their patience while working through these issues. But now PS5 supply is well-stocked and we are seeing that pent up demand finally being met.”
