Sony Interactive Entertainment has launched a PlayStation 5 hardware sale in Europe.
In the console’s biggest official discount since its November 2020 launch, Sony has cut the PS5 price by £75 / €75, although some retailers are offering even bigger savings.

in the UK, PS5’s price has been reduced from £479.99 to £404.99, with the offer valid until August 10.However, the console can currently be purchased for £399.99 at retailers including Argos and Currys, with the latter even including a copy of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Sony is also expected to launch a temporary PS5 price cut in the US, which will reportedly see it knock $50 off the regular price of the console.
It may be attempting to clear stock of PS5’s launch model ahead of unconfirmed plans to launch a new PS5 model featuring a detachable disc drive later this year.
Sony claimed on Thursday that PS5 sales have reached 40 million worldwide. PS4 remains the fastest-selling Sony console to reach 40 million sales, having reportedly reached the milestone two months sooner, although it didn’t face the same Covid-related supply issues that have checked PS5 momentum.
