Larian Studios is gearing up for Baldur’s Gate 3’s release on PC in just one week. After announcing the third major antagonist earlier this month, the team is giving us a deeper introduction to Orin the Red.
Described as a “shapeshifting evil”, Orin the Red is voiced by actress Maggie Robertson, who is known for roles like Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil: Village , and Skjóthendi the Unerring from God of War Ragnarök. While she was initiallyunveiled at the Panel From Hell stream early this month, the team said we'd hear more about her later. And here we are.
Today, the team debuted a brand new video featuring Robertson talking about Orin, her special connection to her bladed weapons, and even the “unholy evil triumvirate” when the three antagonists come together.
Those other two antagonists are General Ketheric Thorm, voiced by J.K. Simmons, and Lord Enver Gortash, played by Jason Isaacs. Larian clearly needed someone who could play a dangerous and formidable woman. Enter Robertson.
“Orin is, affectionately, unhinged,” she says. “You don’t know when she’s going to pop up, you don’t know in what form she’s going to be, she’s incredibly tricksy.” While it seems that all three of Baldur’s Gate 3 ’s antagonists will play memorable roles, Orin does seem to be a little more overtly intense. In the new preview video, it's clear that not only is she good at killing, she seems to enjoy it pretty well.
Because she's a shapeshifter, this has let her get away with many years of killing and causing pain. She's hard to catch, and that gives her a lot of distinct advantages since she has the element of surprise.
