However, some pieces of treasure can be worth more than what they appear. Combining certain treasures with gems increases their value with some even having a final sell price of over 100,000 Pesetas.
There are five different types of gems throughout the game and plenty of treasures that can be combined with them. The combinable treasures will have empty slots underneath them when viewing them in the inventory and have a line in their description stating they can be inlaid with gemstones. Strategically placing the gems will be the key to maximizing profits as certain combinations produce higher values.
Gemstones can be found all throughout the entire game in a couple of different ways. The easiest ways players will come across them in is through random looting and enemy drops, especially tougher enemies such as Chainsaw Villagers or Garradors.
If looking to hunt gems down directly, they can also be found in many of the treasure-concealing items such as Locked Drawers and Decorated Keyhole Chests.
There are five different types of gems of five varying colors. They are broken up into two categories: Round Gems and Rectangular Gems. The shape is what will determine which pieces of treasure they can be combined with. Each specific gem is also worth a certain amount that will be added together with the base price of the item it is inlaid in, as explained in the Gemstone Bonus Chart.
