Resident Evil 4 is a remake done right. It retains all the plaga-infested zombie-shooting action of the original while amplifying the horror elements thanks to the latest-generation graphics. It tweaks the gameplay just enough to provide a new experience to those who played the 2005 original, and those veterans are now nodding sagely as newcomers discover the subtler bits of Resident Evil 4’s story.
For example, take Reddit user 53R105LY_, who recently posted their realization that the village priest shares some physical features that look a lot like the symbol for Los Illuminados. "TYO when I realized that his body is not conveniently mutated into the shape of the symbol," they wrote. "We are literally looking at the Los Plagas parasite walking around in his skin... which makes it worse, somehow."

Bitores Mendez, the third boss of Resident Evil 4 (or fourth, depending if you count the Chainsaw Sisters as a boss), showcases a human that has been fully infected by the Plaga parasite. Once fully formed, little of the original body remains as the Plaga’s insectile body replaces most of the host’s anatomy. And, as you can see in the photo below, the Plaga’s long thorax and multijointed limbs bear a striking resemblance to the Los Illuminados symbol.
It’s a fun bit of environmental storytelling that dates back to the original Resident Evil 4.
