The PlayStation Showcase has come and gone, treating us to looks at Assassin's Creed Mirage, Spider-Man 2, and the upcoming Alan Wake 2. The sequel to a cult classic, viewers got a better look at gameplay with a new trailer, showing off brooding environments and impressive lighting. Its developer meanwhile is bullish about the game and has clarified what we were seeing.
Over on Twitter, Remedy's communications director Thomas Puha clarified that the Alan Wake 2 trailer shown in the PlayStation Showcase was "100 percent running on PlayStation 5". Puha for some reason really wanted to point it out, perhaps to underline that this is a current-gen game that makes no compromises. "We did say in 2021 that we are gonna push the graphics hard on this one," he continued.

Remedy is not being shy about how proud it is about its upcoming game, with Puha saying that the team thinks they'll have "the best looking game in 2023," which is not a small boast. To say Alan Wake 2 will be the most visually impressive game of this year means that it will beat off the likes of Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores, Resident Evil 4, Atomic Heart, and upcoming titles like Final Fantasy 16 and Spider-Man 2. It is among good looking company already.
But it seems Alan Wake and Remedy has some big fans, not least Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard Entertainment, who replied to Puha's tweet with: "Can't wait to play this one! Congrats!" Previously, we've also learned that Remedy is internally quite pleased with the quality of the product it's made.
