The persistent rumours of a Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake have been swirling for years, with Konami's reimagined epic purportedly out as soon as 2024. It seemed like further fuel had been thrown onto that particular conflagration over the weekend, not from a leak or data breach, but by a singer long associated with the series. However, the whole thing ended up just being a misunderstanding.
Donna Burke, a voice actress and singer involved with the Metal Gear Solid franchise since Peace Walker (providing vocals for the soulful Heaven's Divide, got tongues wagging after she Tweeted a picture of herself allegedly re-recording the iconic track Snake Eater (originally performed by Cynthia Harrell) from Metal Gear Solid 3.
Metal Gear super-fans were excited by the prospect, and connections were made that were later discovered to be unfounded. Burke set the record straight, asserting that the recording session was just for fun, a sentiment that the producer for the session, Mason Lieberman, echoed and poked fun at.
So while this particular episode was unrelated, it shows how hungry we all remain for the genuine article, concrete news from Konami regarding Snake's jungle adventure. What do you think of this brief diversion? Sing us a song in the comments section below.
