With theatrical releases not always being feasible, more large movies have seen direct-to-streaming. Even when films have received theatrical releases, they have regularly seen a limited release on streaming services much more quickly than they once would have been. For Amazon’s Prime video, that means that the platform is adding large-scale new releases to their regular Amazon Original movies and TV series alongside their range of older content that has always bolstered the services offerings.
In May, Amazon Prime Video welcomed a huge range of new content. The platform received the true-crime documentary mini-series The Unsolved Murder of Beverly Lynn Smith and a documentary about an Australian football plater and professional boxer, Kick Like Talya. The science-fiction drama Night Sky starring J.K. Simmons and Sissy Spacek was a big release for the platform, as was the psychological thriller The Wilds which returned for its second season in May. Amazon also gave Prime Video the new comedy season from the classic comedy team The Kids In The Hall, and a reality dating show set in a United States high school called Lovestruck High.
