Terraria is one among a small set of games that have achieved an incredible feat – being the highest rated game on Steam. Although not for very long, the action-adventure sandbox game was up there among the best of the best. However, developer Re-Logic has said that the 1.4.4 Update will be the game's last, and that they will then move onto their next project. However, if you still want more Terraria, there's now a way to experience the whole thing from a different perspective.
Peteh12, a.k.a. 3D Worm, has taken it upon themselves to give fans of the game a whole new experience (thanks PCGamesN). They have recreated Terraria in 3D. Simply known as Terraria 3D, the project will be a free-to-play adaptation that features many of the game's mechanics, enemies and bosses.

"For slightly more than half a year I've been working on this hobby project and there are currently 2 bosses(king slime and eye of Cthulu)," said Pateh12 on Reddit, when they first revealed the project. "There is a building system and tree cutting right now. It is still really early development, but when in time it releases it'll obviously be free for everyone."
Currently, they are working on the game's Crimson biome. The progress they've made in just 10 months is quite impressive, especially given the gameplay footage. The project has been crafted using Unity and features a very similar HUD and UI as the original game, remixed versions of the game's original music, and even an option to swap between third-person and first-person perspectives. Pateh12 also plans to launch a multiplayer mode at some point, but it's a while away.
