Predator prequel Prey appears to create a problem regarding the Predator's power, but it could also end up being a good creative decision for the movie. The Prey trailer has been released for the upcoming Hulu movie and seems to bring the alien hunter back to his roots, stalking humans in the pursuit of the perfect kill. However, the potential difference in power level between the Predator and humans could be either a problem or a smart choice.
The Predator series has been through the wringer since the original sci-fi action classic in 1987. Predator 2 has its moments but is a 90's guilty pleasure at best. 2010's Predators took an interesting turn by bringing the action to an alien jungle, but a muted reception prevented its story from continuing. Shane Black’s soft reboot The Predator should have been a slam dunk but had problems understanding what made the original Arnold Schwarzenegger Predator special. The Prey trailer looks to try and bring the horror and brutality back to the ailing franchise, setting it 300 years in the past with Comanche warrior Naru (Amber Midthunder) attempting to prevent her people from becoming the Predator's prey.

While it's full of interesting imagery, the problem that the Prey trailer shows is the disconnect between the Predator's power and that of Naru. In the trailer, Naru is nearly killed by a bear but is ultimately saved by the Predator. The movie therefore potentially creates the issue of how Naru could realistically kill a Predator when she doesn't have the power to kill a bear?
