Warning: Contains SPOILERS for The Boys season 3, episode 5.
Soldier Boy has new powers in The Boys season 3 that make him even more dangerous than expected. When it was first announced that Jensen Ackles was joining The Boys as Soldier Boy, there was great excitement to see the Supernatural star's take on a cowardly satire of Captain America. The prototypical American hero with basic superpowers like super strength and a high level of invulnerability is a far cry from what the show delivered, as Soldier Boy's story and powers have taken on a different form for Prime Video's series.
Despite appearing in a series of flashbacks to his days leading Team Payback in World War II, it was not until The Boys season 3, episode 4 that Soldier Boy really became part of the story. The Boys found him in a secret Russian base when looking for the weapon that supposedly killed him. This is where Soldier Boy's new powers first were put on display, as he sent a massive energy blast out from his chest, nearly killing The Boys' Kimiko in the process. The Boys season 3, episode 5 showed the evolution of these powers once Soldier Boy traveled to America, as his radioactive self effectively became a bomb twice. Soldier Boy's explosive powers first showed up as he is reintroduced to America, but he then used them on command to kill Crimson Countess.
