The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke compares filming the season 3 finale to its much-hyped “Herogasm” event. Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic of the same name, Amazon Prime Video's The Boys continues to turn the superhero genre on its head. After the success of season 2, Kripke promised the series would adapt a version of «Herogasm,» a six-issue miniseries of The Boys comic where Supes team up under the guise of fighting an international threat ala Avengers: Endgame, but actually engage in a giant, depraved orgy (among other things). The Boys season 3, episode 6, “Herogasm,” debuts this Friday, June 24 on Prime Video.
Irrespective of changes made to the source material, Kripke has said fans will be getting the “full Herogasm experience.” A new trailer promoting Herogasm included a comically long content warning. It described explicit scenes “not suitable for any audience,” including “airborne penetration, dildo-based maiming, extra strength lube, icicle phalluses and cursing.” Those involved with the filming of The Boys' Herogasm have talked about their experience, with Jensen Ackles saying the crew looked “traumatized” and Erin Moriarty explaining how the hilarious and scarring debauchery was filmed for 5 straight 12-hour days. In a season that began with that Termite scene, Herogasm is still poised to be The Boys’ most outrageous episode yet.
