Ana de Armas stars as Marilyn Monroe in the first Blonde trailer. Based on the novel by Joyce Carol Oates, Blonde is a fictionalized take on the American icon's tumultuous life. Directed by Andrew Dominik, Blonde will be the Killing Them Softly director's first movie since 2012. After breaking out in Knives Out, de Armas has experienced a whirlwind career, but her role in Blonde has perhaps been the most anticipated of all. Monroe is a screen icon herself, starring in numerous films over the years like Gentlement Prefer Blondes and Some Like It Hot.
In addition to de Armas, Blonde stars Adrien Brody, Bobby Canavale, and Julianne Nicholson. After Dominik began developing the film in 2010, Blonde has faced a rough road to screens, with many other actresses initially floated for the lead role. Even recently, furor over Blonde's NC-17 rating have given many pause, but with Netflix releasing the film, a rating like that doesn't present much of a problem. Still, a first look at the movie has been highly anticipated and now it's finally here.
Netflix has released the first Blonde trailer that sees de Armas recreating some of Marilyn Monroe's most iconic moments. The video begins with Monroe in front of a mirror, hoping that someone will be coming as she fights back tears. The Blonde trailer then recreates some iconic moments, including Marilyn wearing the white dress as it billows around her, one of the many premieres she attended, and a scene from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes playing in a theater. It ends with Marilyn smiling giddily into the mirror she was crying into mere moments ago. Check it out below:
