A new PlayStation 5 system software update is now live worldwide, introducing some new features, including those that were under testing the past few weeks with the latest beta firmware.
System software update 24.06 introduces the Welcome hub, a new personalized space on the console's home screen that players can customize with different widgets that display console storage, battery levels for accessories, online friends, trophies and many others. The size of each widget, as well as the background of the hub, can be changed at will. The Welcome hub will start rolling out for select users in the U.S. today, and support will be gradually expanded over the coming weeks starting in Japan and select European countries.
The new PlayStation 5 system software update also introduces a new Party Share feature that allows users to share party voice chat links on any messaging or social media app. This feature allows even users who haven't been added to the PlayStation Network friends list to join a voice chat. A PlayStation App update coming in the next few weeks will introduce a similar feature to the app.
Alongside these features, as already mentioned, the new PlayStation 5 system software update introduces new features that some users already got to try out with the latest beta firmware, such as personalized 3D audio profiles for headphones and earbuds and a new Remote Play setting that allows individual users to enable Remote Play. More information on everything the new system software update brings can be found on the Official PlayStation Blog.
