The official trailer and key art for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 1 have been revealed. Strange New Worlds is the latest live-action series from the Star Trek universe to premiere on Paramount+. The show was created by Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet, and its first episode will begin streaming on May 5, 2022. The ten-episode season will then air weekly, following the adventures of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) on the USS Enterprise before Captain Kirk ever steps foot on board the iconic starship.
Christopher Pike is a character who has appeared in several iterations throughout the course of the Star Trek franchise, including several episodes of the original series in the mid-1960s, usually as a mentor figure to Captain Kirk. This iteration of the character has already been introduced in Star Trek: Discovery season 2, in which he faced the inevitable darkness in his future with typical grace. After he left the series, fans campaigned for the character to return, and Paramount+ delivered, also setting Discovery characters Number One (Rebecca Romijn) and the younger Spock (Ethan Peck) to return.
