The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 5 brings back Veep star Reid Scott as a series regular. Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, the series stars Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a 1950s housewife who breaks the constraints of her New York City housewife lifestyle and pursues a career in stand-up comedy. In February, Amazon released the highly-anticipated season 4, which centers on Midge’s fight to get her career back on track. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 4 introduced some new faces to the cast, including Scott as talk show host Gordon Ford.
Now, it appears Gordon Ford will play a key role in the next installment of the show. Per Deadline, Scott has been promoted to a series regular for the fifth and final season of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Previously seen as Dan Egan on HBO’s Veep, Scott joins mainstays Marin Hinkle and Tony Shalhoub as Midge’s parents and Alex Borstein as Midge’s outspoken manager Susie Myerson. At this time, Amazon has yet to reveal a release date for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 5.

Indeed, Scott’s Gordon Ford playing a prominent role in the final season fuels the speculation that Midge will pursue a career as a late-night talk show host. While five seasons may seem short-lived for a popular series, the creators have expressed they prefer to end the show on a high note. Sherman-Palladino already knows whatthe final shots ofThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will look like, but it remains to be seen how Midge’s journey will come to a close. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 5 is likely to debut sometime in 2023 on Amazon.
