It was rumoured, it was leaked! And now, it is official. Vivo has confirmed launching the Vivo X80 series smartphones in India. The X80 series is among the company's flagship series smartphones globally and will succeed the Vivo X70 series from late last year. The Vivo X series phones are all about the photography and style, as made evident by last year's models. Vivo is yet to reveal which models from the global lineup will make it to India this year.
The Vivo X80 series will be unveiled on May 18 at 12 pm via an online event. There is a standard Vivo X80 that brings in big upgrades over the Vivo X70 Pro. There is the flagship grade Vivo X80 Pro that will succeed the Vivo X70 Pro Plus from last year. As usual, these phones will feature the Zeiss branded lens for the rear cameras, and a couple of other high-end features only seen on previous Vivo flagships.
The Vivo X80 will take on the likes of the Apple iPhone 13 and Samsung Galaxy S22 series. The pricing of these phones are rumoured to be on par with the Chinese pricing, which means the standard Vivo X80 could start at almost Rs. 43,000 whereas the Vivo X80 Pro could have a price tag of Rs. 64,000. For the global models, there is a difference in the choice of chipsets as well as the choice of camera sensors.
The Vivo X80 Pro runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip whereas the regular Vivo X80 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. Both the phones feature a 6.7-inch display with up to 120Hz of refresh rate. However, the Pro variant has a Quad HD+ resolution while the base Vivo X80 has Full HD+ resolution.
