We might not know what the future of Pokemon video games looks like right now, but its Funko Pop! division hit the ground running in 2024. Pokemon and Funko kicked off the year by teasing six new figures, heavily implying the six will be pre-existing Pops given pearlescent makeovers. That implication was confirmed via the official reveal of a shiny new Lucario Pop!, and now we may know which Pokemon will be the second of the six.
Neither Pokemon nor Funko has even teased what its next pearlescent Pokemon will be yet - prior to Lucario's official reveal, its silhouette was shared in a Who's That Pokemon? style teaser. However, an image of the next pearlescent Pokemon appears to have surfaced online. Shared by Funko Pop News, if the image is legitimate, then the next Pop! added to Pokemon's pearlescent collection will be Pichu.
The source of the image is unclear, but evidently someone has got their hands on the Pichu early and decided to share the exciting news with the world. The full force of Pichu's pearlescence isn't really visible due to the poor quality of the image, but you can tell by the packaging that the figure is a pearlescent one. As is the case with Pokemon's other pearlescent Pops, Pichu's figure will be the same as its original Funko Pop! but shinier.
It's possible Pichu is one of the five pearlescent Pops left to be revealed, but not necessarily the next one, in which case it might be a long time before the pre-evolved Pikachu is available to buy. It seems unlikely an image would find its way online that far ahead of time though, and we can probably expect an official announcement that a shiny Pichu Funko Pop! will be coming our way very soon.
If you don't mind your Pokemon Pops not being shiny, there have been plenty of other additions to the collection already in 2024. Luxray, Grookey, and Wooloo all have Funko Pops now, as does Professor Oak's lab, complete with Bitty Pop! Kanto starters for you to choose from. On the pearlescent front, there are
