During the recent episode of Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, James Gunn has finally gave an update about Season 2, confirming that the project is still moving forward despite his busy schedule with directing Superman: Legacy. Gunn revealed that the John Cena-led DC series would be his next project after the upcoming Superman movie.
“Peacemaker’s coming back right after Superman. That’s my next thing,” Gunn said. The filmmaker also shared that he is planning to shift his focus towards that Amanda Waller-centered series after he’s done with Peacemaker Season 2.
Peacemaker Season 1 starred John Cena as Peacemaker, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Steve Agee as John Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji as Murn, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith/White Dragon, and more. It’s unclear which characters will return for the next installment, but Gunn previously teased that he’s planning to establish more DC connections into the next chapter, following Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa’s surprise appearances during the Season 1 finale.
Based on the characters from DC, Peacemaker is written, directed, and created by Gunn. Executive producers are Gunn, Cena, Peter Safran, and Matt Miller. It was produced by Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Season 1 is now available for streaming on Max.
