Palia will be heading into closed beta this Wednesday, with open beta to follow on August 10th. Game Director Aidan Karabaich has a new letter to the community about the road to beta, as well as what the team is planning for Palia over the rest of the year.
Singularity 6 began with a shared mission “ to bring people together through games in new ways” , and this is what they've been creating in the cozy game that is about to be accessible to so many more people as it debuts on PC in beta, final release later, and follows on Nintendo Switch during the holiday season.
As they step into wide beta testing, their mission seems to have come true as they are releasing what they feel is a community that celebrates a space where people can gather together, be and play how they want to be, and enjoy the experience.
In addition to reflecting on how they got from goals and mission statements to a beta that will be live in just a few days, the letter is also a statement of commitment to the community. There's no perfect time to bring a game into beta, but they feel like now is a good time. Taking time will also allow them to continue making sure capacity and resources are working as intended by entering closed beta and then open beta to give them a couple of steps to make their way to launch.
“As a new developer on the scene, we will make mistakes like any other, we will stumble. But we will work to correct them, we will get back up. And we will also surprise you, hopefully delight you. We will learn and evolve as necessary to make Palia the best it can be.”
