The commercial leader and vice president of Overwatch, Jon Spector, is leaving Blizzard after six years.
In a post on Twitter – as spotted by TheGamer – the exec announced his departure saying that working on Overwatch was "the highlight" of his career to date. There's no word as to where Spector is headed next.
"After six amazing years, I’ve decided to hang up my sword and am leaving Blizzard at the end of March. Working on Overwatch has been the highlight of my career – Team 4 brings immense talent and passion to their work every day.
"Thank you to everyone at Blizzard who made this chapter of my career so incredible, and thank you to the Overwatch community too! I’ll still be around memeing in Twitter replies and posting dps Moira highlights.
There are so many exciting things coming to Overwatch that I can't wait to see as a player. I’ve worked closely with the rest of the leadership team on this transition, and I know the franchise is in great hands with [game director] Aaron Keller and [exec producer] Jared Neuss and the rest of the team."
Spector joined Blizzard as one of the first members of staff on the Overwatch League back in 2017, rising to become VP and head of the esports business three years later. In 2021 he was promoted to commercial leader and VP for the Overwatch brand.
