When blizzard was starting work on Overwatch, they decided early on to focus on themes of hope, heroism, and a future worth fighting for. These themes have guided Overwatch's narrative and characters throughout Overwatch's development. People who are new to Overwatch should watch the Overwatch Anime,GENESIS, to get a good idea of Overwatch's story. Overwatch was originally founded in response to the Omnic crisis, and then expanded globally before disbanding. Different heroes reacted to the disbanding of Overwatch in different ways, Reinhardt & Brigitte kept fighting around the world, while Winston isolated himself and focused on his engineering. We'll find out what Sojourn was up to in a future animated short called «Calling», releasing shortly before Invasion on August 10th.
